Israeli Government Issues Cell Phone Alert

08/15/2008

I have suspected for many years that cell phones are probably carcinogenic.

The amount of radiation and electrical interference that many cell phones inject into electrical appliances including radios, TVs, microwaves and the like has always been a cause of concern for many.  People have discounted this threat from cell phones because it has become such an important part of our lives.

The Health Ministry for the State of Israel has, for the first time, issued guidelines for the safe use of cellular and cordless phones.

This study found a clear link between cell phone use and the risk of cancer in the salivary glands.

These measures proposed by the Health Ministry are easy to institute.  They should be incorporated by everyone in our daily routine.  They include the following:

· Use wired, not wireless headsets or earphones.

· Children’s use of cell phones should be restricted until they have completed their growth years.

· Keep the phone charger out of the bedroom.

· Minimize use of the “Bluetooth” headsets that have become popular.

I have used one Bluetooth at home and one at the office for the past 6 or 7 years and I plan on restricting my usage significantly.

These simple guidelines should reduce the risk of cell phone usage, to a manageable level.  It is certainly not a good idea to walk around with a Bluetooth piece as many people are beginning to do in our streets and other public thoroughfares.

As Sy Sims put it, “An informed consumer is my best customer.”  Having the latest information on such an important tool used by so many is critical to the good health of the populous at large. --Edward E. Klein
